Walt & I love being outside, we love our old barn (that we did not use except for storage), we've talked about running a
farm but we just couldn't decide what would best suit our already busy life and our family.  Our four children, (all
teenagers when we started) kept us running plus we both worked full time jobs, like we need one more thing in our lives...
I always wanted horses as a child, I just didn't know how we would find time to ride, and I knew I did not want to raise an
animal I would name and then have to eat it.  (some say in that case I am not a true "farmer")
While we were deciding, we continued to put up fence, improve our pastures and do the necessary repairs to our over
one hundred year old barn.  It became somewhat of a joke within the family and around our little town of Tidioute as to
what would end up in our beautiful pastures...donkeys, cows, horses, how about fainting goats??  Well, one day a friend
of ours was at a craft festival and brought home a card from an alpaca farm selling fiber products at the festival.  As a joke
she told us to "stick this in our fence"...
October 2005, was the start of our research, the more we learned the more interested we became.  The start up cost was at
first overwhelming and I thought I will never be able to afford this, but there are many available opportunities through
farms and even state programs, the opportunities will only continue to get better and better as the alpaca industry grows.
Where there is a will there is a way...
We contacted a local farm who invited us to come to their farm and learn hands-on about these wonderful animals.
We returned for several weeks in February 2006, we gained invaluable experience, after all the research and several
weeks of "cold" hands-on experience we visited a couple  different farms, attended the MAPACA, Breeders Showcase
and knew this is what we had been searching for.
Through all this I have not only found these amazing animals, I met some of the most friendly, helpful, devoted and
generous people who I now call my friends.
We look forward to watching our herd grow and adventure into other aspects of the whole "LIFE OF LOVING WHAT YOU
DO" alpaca business!

These are just some of the great bloodlines we have incorporated into our foundation herd;
